Lily's Playhouse

Last year, Visbeen Associates designed a playhouse for a little girl named Lily as her wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. As a thank you, her mom sent us a video chronicling the project. Check it out to see the building process and finished product. You can read our blog post from April of last year to see photos from Wayne's design session with Lily.

This playhouse was designed by Visbeen Associates and built by Toll Brothers.

Down on the Farm Wedding

The past few weeks have been filled

with hard work

getting ready for a Barn Wedding

My Niece married her best friend on Oct. 23rd 2010

 In the distance

you can see the arbor and haybales

used for the ceremony

Groom and Groomsmen

anxiously awaiting

the arrival of the Bridal party

On the John Deer Tractor!

Guest have all arrived and been seated

On haybales covered in borrowed quilts

A beautiful Flower Girl pulling a wagon with a very special Flower Girl

who just happens to be my Granddaughter

And it just happens to be her first birthday!

The Bride being walked down the aisle by her Dad

The barn filled with special people and memories

Reception included a low-country boil

with potatoes, corn, sausage and shrimp

Can you say Yummy!!

My Niece, dancing with her Daddy

Grandma Pat's quilts hung on the wall

Wooden barn floor
covered in hay

My Granddaughter in the Congo line

we start 'em early in North Ga!

Saying their Goodbye's

After much dancing and laughter, we all said Goodnight

There is just something

so special about a wedding

especially when you find a very comfortable place to have it!

I'm joining the party for Inspiration Friday over @ Southern In My Heart,
Come on over and check out the fun!

Traditional Building Design Challenge 2010

Over the weekend, Wayne Visbeen, David Lorenz and Jonathan Lorenz from Visbeen Associates participated in the Traditional Building Live Design Challenge at the Traditional Building Exhibition and Conference at Chicago's Navy Pier. The challenge was to design a "Gateway Building" with retail on the first floor and residential units on the floors above for a site in the Jefferson Park Business TIF Redevelopment Area. The participants were given time on Friday and Saturday during the hours of the Exhibition to complete their designs. The final presentation had to include hand drawings of the front and rear elevations, floor plans and site plan. Here are a few photos of the design process and our team's final design. Our team finished runner up, so we want to congratulate them on a job well done and a great design!

Study room design

Study room design As mentioned earlier, your study table or computer desk should be big enough to incorporate a desktop or a laptop, along with writing space. This is particularly true if you are implementing kids study room ideas, as they need the space to complete their written assignments, do craft work, or any other creative activity they wish to engage in. A study table with storage underneath is essential particularly for kids, because of the merous books and other items they have to store.
Make sure you are comfortable while sitting at the desk before you purchase it. The chair you use should be of the appropriate height. Comfort is of prime importance when it comes to study room design.
